The majority of us are busy and always on the go, and just
don’t have the time to stand around waiting for someone to make us lunch.
Let’s
face it, we’re lazy and impatient! So, it was only a matter of time before
someone came up with a solution for this pesky conundrum - placing orders
online now to pick up later, as known as 'Order for Later'!
In August 2015, Westfield Sydney launched ‘Eat on Time’ - an
app that allows customers to pre-order their lunch and skip the queue
entirely! Your lazy ears just pricked up didn’t they?!
Westfield Sydney is the
first shopping centre in Australia to trial
the app, and if successful, it may be implemented Australia wide.
The ‘Eat on Time’ app
lets customers choose from 17 retailers in the shopping centre food court.
Prior to the app’s launch, Westfield conducted thorough market research, which
indicated that ‘hangry’
- anger and short temperedness caused by being hungry (hungry + angry =
hangry), is a serious issue and must not be taken lightly! We don’t want a
bunch of ‘hangry’ zombies roaming the city!
Lonergan,
an independent research agency, surveyed over 500 Sydney CBD workers aged 18-64
years old, who buy a take away lunch at least once a month; surprisingly they
found that workers spend a massive third
of their lunch break waiting for
food. That’s a lot of standing around, something us lazy people just don’t have
time for!
Would you have guessed that…
- Four
out of ten admitted to saying something they regret when ‘hangry’ strikes. Nobody likes angry people, let alone 'hangry' people!
- One
third pondered about paying someone to get ahead in the lunch line. Would you pay a stranger to collect your food,
with the risk of a bite missing upon delivery?!
- 90%
reported having a much better day if they ate a meal they really wanted. There’ll be no angry bosses around when you keep
your drawer stacked with snacks.
- One
quarter considered lying about a medical condition to get ahead in the
queue. Fake it till you make it rings very
true.
All in all, it’s pretty clear that we, Australians are an
impatient bunch with some serious appetites!
We at Zwift, are well aware of Aussie eating habits, which
is why we allow customers to order now, for a later date! And let us tell you… that OFL orders
are on the rise!
The Order for Later (OFL) function is easy to set up and use,
and comes with no extra cost to business owners signed up with Zwift.
It
enables customers to browse through a restaurant’s menu at their leisure, which
means bigger orders! And we mean bigger orders! Zwift has found that an
average OFL order value is a staggering 38% higher than a non OFL order - we’ll let the numbers speak for themselves here.
If you want to increase your Order for Later orders, having iPhone & Android
Apps is a guaranteed advantage, as 13% of Order for Later orders are made
via iPhone & Android Apps.
The convenience of ordering from your phone coupled with the
ability to place an order for later – will make loyal customers and bring bigger orders!
And it goes without saying… no more ‘hangry’.
